I will dominate 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.
Briton Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the pair met personally to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.
Ex twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth disparity - at Miami venue on 19 December.
Boxer's Attitude
"I plan to injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I will genuinely try to injure him. That's my goal."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of those words, a calm Joshua and social media star Paul - usually famous for his dramatics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead targeted former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian turned down a bout proposal.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, targeted British rival Fury - and declined a large bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's fighting skills.
"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.
Jake Paul's History
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.
He was defeated by Briton Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's greatest money-making draws, consistently making substantial paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28-year-old forecast a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.
Physical Difference
As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the bout is actually happening.
